My week in Pop Culture - May 17 2015

It began with a "thing" and ended with something fast, furious, and flippin' awesome!

Great new episodes from Wittertainment and the lovely lovely people at Empire.  The good doctors Kermode and Mayo expanded the world of Wittertainment this week with their wonderful new thing

There was also a fantastic post election episode of The Bugle.  John Oliver’s sweary reaction to the result is hilarious.

It was a good week on the telly box.  Finished watching season 3 of The Americans – which is quickly becoming one of my favourite shows.  If you are unfamiliar with this show, I recommend that you familiarise yourself with it as soon as possible.  It is awesome. Understated, atmospheric and thrilling.  And Keri Russell is fantastic.

Started watching Better Call Saul on Netflix. So far so good.

Very much enjoying watching Game of Thrones spread its scaly wings and flourish as it veers further and further away from the source material.

Also watched the penultimate episode of Mad Men.  I will really miss this wonderful drama when it finishes next week, and I sincerely hope it goes out on a winner.  However, I have an inkling that it may instead go for something that will be as ambiguous and divisive as The Sopranos.

And my new favourite sitcom is The Goldbergs.  Wendi McLendon-Covey is ace.

Started reading a new Stephen King paperback – Mr Mercedes. Finished reading a beautiful hardback edition of Mort by Terry Pratchett.  Also listening to Amy Poehler reading Yes Please.  An absolute joy.

Ahem… was awesome.
